Animal Assisted Therapy

Animal Assisted Therapy uses trained animals to enhance an individual's emotional and social well-being, thus improving self-esteem, reducing anxiety and facilitating healing. It has a been found to help lessen depression, decrease feelings of isolation, provide comfort, and lower levels of anxiety. Playing with and petting dogs has also been proven to lower blood pressure, release endorphins, and to have a calming effect on the nervous system.
